Facade cladding for a modern residential house

A house to be envious of! The new residents of this spacious house renovated the entire structure from top to bottom when they bought it. During the renovation, a beautiful design and technical choices created a beautiful and sustainable result. To create a warm appearance, wood was chosen for exterior decoration. Wood is also a nice counterpart to 'harder materials' such as the stucco on the walls and the black steel gutters and window frames.

Van den Berg Hardhout was called in to supply the wood. With various wood samples and a quick quotation, the choice was made without any delay. In the end, FSC^® certified Louro gamela, a hardwood species from South America, came out as the winner.

Louro gamela is stable and durable (class 1-2) and is often chosen for facade cladding of residential or commercial buildings. At the moment the wood is still red-brown, but the residents would like to let the wood age. For this reason it was decided not to treat the Louro gamela wood. We expect that the facade cladding will turn a beautiful silver-grey within a year!

For this project we supplied planed Louro gamela planks in dimensions of 365cmx14cmx2cm. The facade cladding was placed on rafters, with moisture-regulating foil as an intermediate layer.
