Introducing: Timborana

Since last year, the famous castle gardens in Arcen in Limburg have been adorned with a new deck, made of Timborana wood. This type of wood is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands. Van den Berg Hardhout is the first in our country to offer this durable and strong type of wood with a strikingly beautiful, yellow-red-brown colour.

The deck at the restaurant of the Kasteeltuinen Arcen was due for renewal. This is why the Limburgs Landschap Foundation, which Kasteeltuinen Arcen is a part of, looked for a sustainable, FSC® certified tropical hardwood. They intended to renew and widen the deck in the castle gardens and to replace the old cross railings on the terrace. Via Haasnoot Bruggen they came upon Timborana wood by Van den Berg Hardhout. A new type of wood that Van den Berg Hardhout now offers on the Dutch market after extensive testing. The big advantage of this type of wood is the beautiful colour. In addition, due to its strength, it can even be used as construction timber. This wood shows real potential for the future!

Hay Lintjens, head of Gardens at Kasteeltuinen Arcen, is very happy with the new Timborana deck. “The choice was made by the Limburg Landscape Foundation and we like it. We used the wood for the catering terrace. The great thing is, that the wood is not as dark as many other species. We are certainly satisfied.” Also nice to know: because Van den Berg Hardhout has this wood in stock, we can use wood of the same colour and quality for any repair work or follow-up projects in the coming years.

Curious about Timborana wood? The deck can be seen in Kasteeltuinen Arcen, which will hopefully open its doors again soon. Kasteeltuinen Arcen is one of the most versatile flower and plant parks in Europe, with unique gardens and a castle from the seventeenth century. The park attracts about 190,000 visitors every year. and they have recently been voted as 'Best outing in Limburg'.
