FSC®-certified wood
for a better world

All our hardwood types are FSC certified

fsc certified tropical woods

For us at Vandenberg Hardhout BV the use of FSC certified wood is very important. By using FSC wood, we are helping to promote responsible forest management. FSC®, the Forest Stewardship Council, is an international organization that helps both local people and society to benefit from the forest resources in the long term.

Environmentally and social appropiate use of the forest means that the forest's productivity, biodiversity and ecological processes are maintained while harvesting the wood.

The basics for the wood to get the FSC certification is a set of 10 principles. When these principles are followed, the forest will be eligible for a certificate. Independent inspectors are controlling if the companies that harvest the forest are working up to these standards.

Vandenberghardhout solely imports FSC certified wood or from sources which are in the process to become FSC certified. You can find our hardwood types here

Why use FSC certified wood?

Good for the people
FSC forest management provides people employment and salary. Local people are working in a FSC-forest. FSC provides them a fixed salary, clean drinking water, safety clothes and medical facilities.

Good for nature
Using tropical hardwoods from FSC-forests in Brazil, Cameroon and Indonesia, is positive for people and animals living in those forests. The forest will remain. Trees only disappear if they can be missed.

Gorillas in Cameroon, jaguars in the Amazon area, rhinoceros in Borneo; they all live in FSC forests and will be able to keep on living there.

Good for the climate
Using FSC is not only important for human being and animals living in the forest. Our worldwide climate takes advantage of well managed tropical forests as well.

FSC forest management protects tropical forests and provides us building materials with much better CO2-results than other materials used for building and marine construction.
